AFMA AFMA Spring Workshop
April 28 - 29, 2011
Bryant, Arkansas
From the Chair
It was barely over a month ago we were enjoying a bit of a cold snap as we met in Eureka Springs for the annual AFMA fall conference. In my seven years of floodplain management, I don't recall a better meeting.
Attendance was good. Participation was great! Our Executive Director Conrad Battreal deserves another round of applause for organizing the topics and speakers, and I'll ask for a standing ovation for the field trip to Table Rock Lake Dam!
Among the challenges ahead for our newly elected board of directors, we are intent upon increasing awareness among community leaders that AFMA remains the best value for training and networking among professionals.
Truly the bar has been set high. The new board members have already begun planning for another great spring workshop in 2011. Mark your calendars now as we gather in Bryant, Arkansas (the geographic center of the state) April 28 29. Join us for a unique look at development within a floodplain as we tour Bishop Park- a sprawling 106-acre sports and recreation complex.
The new board held its first meeting two weeks ago in Bryant and this month we will meet in Bentonville. Please feel free to contact your regional representative if you have any questions or specific training needs. The five regional representatives are members of the AFMA board and were elected by caucus from among attendees at the fall conference in each of your regions.
These fine folks are here to serve you. We also need your input to prepare quality training that will be most beneficial to you.
It's membership renewal time! All AFMA memberships expire on December 31, 2010. Please take a moment now and renew your membership by clicking here. It's quick, it's easy, and you'll be glad you did it.
Here's to a wonderful fall season and another successful year in floodplain management for everyone! I am always available if you would like to visit. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of assistance to you and your community.
